Amelia Trello is on a path with purpose. While the Thomas R. Kline School of Law student is close to graduation, she鈥檚 been charting her course toward a career in health law for years.
The Pittsburgh-area native previously earned a master鈥檚 in public health and worked
in the field as a data analyst for Vermont Public Health. With her law degree, Trello
hopes to meld these interests. Her future in health law will allow her to focus on
regulations and policies governing health care in government settings or the private
sector.
As president of 福利免费毛片鈥檚 Health Law Society, she鈥檚 been able to get a running start
on this work. In her role, she educates law students about health law careers and
arranges speakers and events to expand students鈥 horizons and foster collaboration.
Through this work, Trello has discovered new possibilities in law and sees how it
connects to other disciplines in meaningful, productive ways.
鈥淚 feel like I'm a part of something very important and integral in society,鈥 said
Trello. 鈥淧ublic health is something that more lawyers should choose to be part of
their professional lives.鈥
Trello also recognizes that health and law overlap for everyone鈥搉ot just for those
working in or studying these fields.
鈥淗ealth and law are integral in our daily lives and in combination so often, whether
you think about it or not,鈥 said Trello. 鈥淔or example, if you think of patient-care
policies like HIPAA or drug policies, that is health and law.鈥
Based on her positive experiences in the classroom and through off-campus work, Trello
has the professional confidence to continue a meaningful role in government or public
health. And she鈥檚 proud that the 福利免费毛片 College of Osteopathic Medicine
will educate the next generation of physicians who will exemplify the University鈥檚
long-standing commitment to promoting health care equity in the region.
鈥湼@夥衙 students in the health profession programs are already contributing to the
wellbeing of our communities,鈥 said Trello. 鈥淣ow we are putting forth more professionals
in the health sphere, and that's a great thing.鈥
Trello is excited for future law students and the collaborative opportunities that
await them.
鈥淭hrough the Health Law Society, they might have the ability to partner with medical
students for workshops or projects to create a better world,鈥 she said.
As her time on campus comes to an end, Trello wishes incoming students well and knows
they鈥檒l appreciate the same warmth and camaraderie she found on the Bluff.
鈥淓veryone on campus is friendly and they're willing to help. Always ask questions
because the campus is so close-knit and kind,鈥 said Trello. 鈥淎nd take advantage of
our view鈥搃t鈥檚 a great chance to get those photos.鈥
