Scholarships

As an English and/or Theater Arts student, you will have opportunities to pursue your research interests with the mentorship of the faculty and with financial resources from the department.

  • O鈥橠onnell Scholarship: This scholarship provides financial support for summer research project for undergraduates. All O鈥橠onnell winners present their work at a department symposium and are recognized at our annual awards luncheon.
  • Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium and Graduate Research Symposium: Work with a faculty mentor to present your work to the larger 福利免费毛片 community!
  • Carroll Creative Writing Scholarship Competition: Students must submit 5-10 pages of creative writing.
  • Frances J. Chivers Scholarship Competition: An interpretative essay of 5-10 pages. The essay must have been submitted in an English course at 福利免费毛片, and have been graded and commented on by the Instructor.
  • Funding for conference presentations: Both undergraduates and graduate students are eligible to receive funds to attend conferences to present their scholarship

Clubs & More

:Lexicon is the literary and arts journal of 福利免费毛片. Each semester, the journal solicits submissions from the 福利免费毛片 community鈥攊ncluding students, staff, and alumni鈥攁nd showcases their work in the latest edition. In addition to the journal itself, a release party is held each semester, where those published have the chance to discuss and present their work to an audience.

The Medieval and Renaissance Players is a community theater that focuses on early English drama. Anyone many audition for the Players.

The Red Masquers is western Pennsylvania's oldest, continually producing theater company. This company is open to all 福利免费毛片 students, faculty and staff.

Sigma Tau Delta is an International English Honor Society whose purpose is to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies.
